The worst battle is between what you know and what you feel
The worst battle is between what you know and what you feel.
When she first discovered he was “happily” married, she was in shock.
She didn’t want to believe it. How COULD she believe it?
He had treated her so well, spoiled her with gifts and love and affection.
It didn’t make sense to her.
Why would he do all of that if he was a happily married man?
She had heard gossip from her friends, but didn’t want to believe what they were saying.
She didn’t want to believe it had all been a lie.
A lie he had used to ensnare her. It couldn’t be true.
He told her he loved her. Those feelings were real.
HER feelings were real.
She couldn’t just turn off the switch and stop loving him.
She couldn’t just turn her back on him and pretend he never existed.
She couldn’t just erase her memory of the past two years of her life with him.
It was insane.
But deep down inside she KNEW the truth.
He was married and he had no intention of ever leaving his wife.
She knew she would always be his secret if she allowed this to carry on.
She knew she was wasting the best years of her life, waiting, wishing, and hoping that he would one day be with her, and her alone.
Yes, she knew all these things, and yet she was battling to reconcile her deep feelings for this man, and the knowledge that she now had about him being a married man.
She knew right from wrong, but he had ignited a fire inside of her that she had not felt in a long time.
She had fallen madly in love with him, and she no longer knew what to do.
